CIO Solutions sponsored the first annual CCFA Crohn’s and Colitis Walk in Santa Barbara, California.
Santa Barbara, CA – June 9, 2010 – CIO Solutions, an Information Technology (IT) firm in Santa Barbara, sponsored the first annual Crohn’s and Colitis Walk for Santa Barbara. The walk took place on Sunday, June 6th, starting at Santa Barbara City College and ending down by the beach.
The walk was organized by The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). This foundation is a non-profit and volunteer-driven organization which is dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founding in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D Janowitz, M.D. Currently the foundation has over 50,000 members and has over 40 chapters nationwide. The CCFA’s Take Steps Walk was started two years ago as a fundraising and networking opportunity. Since its inception in 2008, the CCFA’s Take Steps Walk has raised over $13 million for research and patient services programs. In addition to raising money, these nationwide walks also provide an opportunity for individuals suffering from digestive diseases to find community and support. The Take Steps Walk has brought together over 75,000 people, successfully raising awareness of these little-known diseases.
